Hello,

Thanks for reading my question.

I had a question about the Urbi et Orbi Blessings at Christmas and Easter. I know that there is a plenary indulgence attached to this blessing, but in the prayer, the word "absolution" is mentioned.

Is this [blessing|pardon] also enriched with an "absolution" as one would receive in Confession?

Thank you very much for your answer.

Bobby

Eric replied:

Hi, Bobby —

This is an absolution of the temporal punishment due to sin only, not absolution of the eternal punishment, as in Confession.

It does not replace Confession for mortal sins.

Eric
