Lauren wrote:

Hi, guys —

I think I am being led to the Catholic Church but I cannot find an answer as to whether the Church will recognize my marriage.

  1. My husband and I were Protestant when married.
  2. He was baptized but I was not.
  3. I was baptized in a Protestant church several years after our marriage.
  4. He does not want to convert to Catholicism.
  • Will the Church recognize our marriage?

  { Seeing I am being drawn to the Church, will the Church recognize our marriage? }

Fr. Jonathan replied:

The Church recognizes marriages of non-Catholics so, yes.

  • Was it the first marriage for both of you?

Fr. Jonathan

Lauren replied:

This is the first marriage for both me and my husband.

Fr. Jonathan replied:

Your marriage is already recognized.

There is no barrier to being accepted into the Church.

Fr. Jonathan
