Pam wrote:

Hi, guys —

  • When we make the Sign of the Cross, should we do it with our right or left hand?
  • Is it a sin if you do it the wrong way?

Pam

  { When we make the Sign of the Cross, should we do it with our right or left hand? }

Bob replied:

Pam,

The traditional hand is the right hand, touching the forehead first, the breast second, the left shoulder, then the right shoulder.

If your right arm is disabled for some reason then the left hand will do. There is no sin in using either, but the right hand is the traditional way of making the Sign of the Cross and therefore correct.

Peace,

Bob Kirby
