James Merkel wrote:

Hi, guys —

The below e-mail you list does not work It bounces back.

  • Do you have a different one?

The Vatican Press Office is considered the official means of e-mail contact for the Holy Father.

The following e-mail address does not gain a response.

e-mail: av@pccs.va

Thanks,

James Merkel

  { Do you know a working e-mail for the Vatican Press Office? }

Mike replied:

Hi James,

Sorry.

Unless I receive a credible e-mail from a Vatican source in Rome on a working e-mail I can share with visitors to this web site, I'm as blind as you are on this.

If someone is reading this who is from the Vatican Press Office and can provide a stable, working e-mail, please send it to me.

Mike

James replied:

Thanks!

I am not really sure why its so hard to contact our Catholic Leaders but that appears to be the case.

Thanks anyway,

James

Eric replied:

Hi, James —

Because if they allowed e-mail, I suspect they would get inundated with billions and billions of messages, most of which would be spam or hateful attacks.

Just look at the responses on Twitter to the pope's tweets. There is no way a small organization like the Holy See could process such a flood of messages or sort out the good from the bad.

They did publish an e-mail address for the Holy Father some years ago for a brief period of time but they evidently learned their lesson.

Eric
