Hi, guys —

I got married to my husband in Albania a few years ago. Due to visa requirements and personal circumstances, we could not marry in a church, however we would like to now get remarried in a Catholic Church.

  • Is there anyway we can do this?

Someone suggested we get our marriage annulled because it was a civil ceremony and then have a Catholic church wedding.

  • Is this possible?
  • If it is, how long would it take for this to happen?

Michelle

  { We could not get married in the Church due to visa and personal issues. Can we remarry now? }

Mary Ann replied:

Michelle,

You do not need to have your marriage annulled; you can simply get it convalidated.

Just go to your parish and talk to the priest.

If neither of you, has had a previous union to a still-living person, it should be a simply matter.

Mary Ann
