Hi there,

I was baptized as a baby in the Catholic Church. I did not attend a Catholic school and did not have a First Holy Communion. I have been attending a Catholic parish regularly now for some time, without ever receiving Holy Communion. My Church has prepared me to make my Confirmation later this year.

  • I understand that I need to make my First Confession (which I intend to do) before receiving my First Communion, however, can I start receiving Holy Communion immediately after my First Confession, or do I need to wait until the day of my Confirmation?

I'm comfortable with and understand what receiving Holy Communion means.

Paul replied:

Bridget,

Many parishes like to administer the sacraments of initiation to adults together on the Easter vigil. (In your case, this would mean two of the three sacraments.)

Find out from you pastor what his plan is for this, and let them know your desire to receive Holy Communion beforehand.

Paul
