Hi, guys —

I am a practicing Catholic, however I am very interested in finding more about the history of the Church from the Faith of our Early Fathers.

  • Also, Why do Protestants call the Catholic Church "the whore of Babylon"?

Hi, Ephren —

Thanks for the question.

RE: History of the Early Church through the Fathers.

These pages from our site should get you started:

Depending on how deep you want to go, I recommend the Early Church Fathers by Jurgens:

Here is another good set of books.

You can also get a multi-volume set on the Church Fathers. I recommend a Catholic version, but my colleague John thinks the Protestant versions are good enough. Check out our conversation on the topic here. I think it would be helpful.

I found the following postings below through a knowledge base search. You may want to try our search engine first, as in many cases, we may have already answered your original question.
The Search Engine can be found here.

The KEY: Use the Exact Match radio button, as well.

Eric and John's reply to the posting below has links to the issue of why Protestants call the Church the whore of Babylon:

Hope this helps,

Mike
