Hi, Joycie —
The Jews are our elder brothers in
faith, said John XXIII (I think it
was him). Catholic revere Jews, and
believe the teaching of St. Paul
about them: the first covenant is
not abrogated.
Catholicism IS mainstream Christianity.
It is the river that sprang forth
from Christ Himself and comes to
us through the apostles and their
successors.
All other forms of Christianity
are creeks or streams that have branched
off, and whatever living water of
truth is in them comes from the Catholic
faith.
