Hi, guys —
My friend recently became very ill. I asked my priest
to pray for him at Mass.
My mother told me it was illegal, (a HIPPA violation),
for a priest to offer a Mass for such a person by saying
the person's name. I've never heard of such a thing.
I understand HIPPA, but I do not see a problem with simply
saying,
"Please pray for {name of sick friend} who
is ill." during Mass.
Who's right?
Thank you,
Joelle
