Maria Bellafe Thielsen wrote:

Peace with Jesus and Mary!!

My name is Maria Bellafe Thielsen.

I live here in Denmark, I have come from the Far East, (the Philippines), and I am married to a Danish man.

When it comes to my religious background, I am a Roman Catholic and have been practicing the Faith all my life. I attended the CATIC (Catechetical Training Institute in Cebu); at the time I was sponsored by Germany.

It was a two-year program. Sadly, I didn't pursue the training because at that time, my late grandmother was so ill, I had to stop my studies. I only studied one year. It included courses and subjects like:

  • Dogmatic Theology
  • Sacramental Theology
  • Psychology, and
  • Church History, etc.

I wish to volunteer my time and my life. I feel God is asking me to do something out of service for the Church.

  • Is there any possibility for me to fit into a giving service to the Church?

I am willing to help in an international way, working for missions worldwide, but there are barriers, e.g.:

  • Who could help me with the travel?
  • How would I get a sponsor for me to do this?
  • Is this possible?

I wish I could share more here in Denmark, but neither my Danish nor English speaking skills are good. I'm afraid I may mislead people when it comes to my speech.

Hope you can help me fulfill my desire.

God bless you,

Maria

  { Where can I service the Church seeing I have only completed part of my catechetical program? }

Bob replied:

Maria,

God bless you for your willingness to serve and spread His love. It is difficult to say what would be best or most effective for you, since we are not even in the same country, however, if you consult with the local bishop in your area, he may be able to direct you to a mission group that could use assistance.

At the very least, your witness to the people of Denmark, even in broken words, may be a powerful tool of the Holy Spirit.

As long as you stay open, God will find a place for you.

Peace in Christ,

Bob Kirby

Mary Ann replied:

Maria,

You have very valuable training.  I would begin where you are planted, where God has planted you.  Start with your husband.

  • Is he Catholic?

Then, go to your local parish, and talk to your pastor.

I would bet that he knows of a need you can fill, a sub-group in the parish that speaks English or Spanish and needs catechesis.

May God bless your work.

Mary Ann
